Receiver V0.2 firmware update is out!
It fixes a common problem related to antenna power overload. By default the receiver is programmed to MAX radio power, this causes problems in some instances where it overloads itself and results in intermittent connectivity.
This updates adds a new functionality to the push button, allowing to change the radio power level by a short press.
Short press = change power level Long press ( 4 seconds ) = Enter binding mode
Power change blink code:
- 1 blink = Min level
- 2 blinks = Low level
- 3 blinks = High level
- 4 blinks = Max level
If you are experiencing intermittent connectivity, go through the different power levels until you find the best setting for your environment. Also don’t forget that there is a similar option on the remote itself, under Control->sig.

I got my remote in the mail a few days ago. I can’t tell you how stoked I am. I just need to get a few kinks worked out. I am having two issues.
The first is with intermittent connectivity. If I go to the binding mode in the remote and push the button on the receiver it typically binds and seems to work flawlessly. But if I goof around with it for more than a few minutes I lose connection. If I enter the binding mode again, it won’t reconnect without pushing the button on the receiver again, which of course would be a real hassle if the remote was tucked away in the enclosure.
The second issue is that the Photon Updater doesn’t recognize the remote when I pug it into my computer’s USB. I can tell it’s connected because it’s charging, but no matter how many times I hit “Refresh” it never populates the Port.
If I could get the remote to connect with the updater, maybe I could update the software regarding antenna overload…
@Floyd650 Connect the receiver to your computer, not the remote. Also make sure that the receiver is powered on. Let me know if this makes it recognizable.
Wow. That was the fastest response in the world. Thanks, and yes that worked perfectly. Now I’m in the updater. I’ll see if I can get my connectivity sorted out. Thanks again for making such an amazing tool!

New remote version 0.51 is released, I discovered a bug when canceling a binding process using the home button instead of the joystick push button, causing the binding loop to not cancel properly and keeps running even when at the main screen. This results in poor connectivity and power on issues.

Update: I improved the overall response time by optimizing the FHSS synchronization between the remote and receiver. This increased the response time by almost 200%, telemetry now has a higher refresh rate due to less missed packets, and commands are more instantaneous.

V0.52 (remote) is released *Improved FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) synchronization. Response time is improved by 200%. V0.3 is mandatory on the receiver for this to work.
