Would 8s5-6p with 8 in pnuematics and 170kv motors have good torque (25% grade hills) Also, frank is taking a looooong time to reply lol.

VESC 6 Plus would be the choice if you want a reliable three shunt VESC. The SIX Plus has three phase shunts and has self adjusting filters for accurate voltage and current readings, which are important to do the real time FOC calculations, driving the motor. This means it delivers the power ultra smooth and linear to the throttle input. ESC like the Focbox, VESC 4 based HW, Unity etc. feature a power stage similar to the VESC 4 Those ESCs measure the currents on two phases only and on the battery side, not the motor side. This means that the currents canโ€™t be measured precisely enough for seamless FOC operation. In between 60 and 100% power, the ESC will respond non linear to the throttle input. In between 80 and 100% duty cycle, the power can jump from one level to another. Especially on high power off-road builds this is very noticeable. MTBs can be very energy hungry and drawing a lot of Amps happens quite often. So the ESC and all connections should be capable and overrated.

Why you want a three shunt ESC: https://vesc-project.com/node/403

How much is it for one?

225 pounds for one

Not your best option

Thanks! Can you control two motors from one?

No its a single vesc

I love my unity, just saying. The problem is waiting for the next batch to be released

Should dual 350W hubs be able do well on hard dirt (70kg total)?

If youre talking about the koowheel hubs, get ready to rattle your legs off

Hubs are really only meant for smooth concrete

@DEEIF if you decide to use a unity and dont wanna wait im sure you can find someone from the 2nd batch that is going to sell theres.

I have them on a 29" cruiser with a basic dual ESC sensored and a 10s2p knock off 30q battery and I can go off the paths with it

Well if it works it works :man_shrugging:

You could look at the maytech 100a vesc

Were is the MOTORS for Dummies thread?

I understand most of the specs. But still have questions.

https://alienpowersystem.com/product-category/brushless-motors/63mm/

Specifically looking at the 63mm motors. Like the differences between a 6374 & 6384

I understand the numbering on them. 74mm and 84mm respectively are the motor lengths. 63mm width

Now the part Iโ€™m having issues with

I see the 6374 for example. all of them being 3200watts but the KV is different.

the same 6374 size motor comes in- 130, 170, 200, 300, 400, 550, etc,

help me here.- Iโ€™ll read. And want to.

Plan is - to build 5 boards with these components (my 4 children and myself to use to-and-from events and around town; we like speed, and would use off road occasionally)

12s6p (samsung 30q) or better cells? FOCBOX Unity 6384s (or different motors) x 2 because 12s TB 218 trucks -> or other recommendations 110 urethane and a set of pneumatics for each board Custom CF boards we are designing with internal cavity 15mm belts or a direct drive gear kit - not sure yet gearing not 100% yet

Kv is RPM per volt, usually you want 170-190 range

The battery voltage, kv, belt ratio, and wheel diameter define the upper cap on your speed

Lower is better, donโ€™t go over

Higher KV = higher motor RPM. Lower KV = more motor torque. Plug all your info into an esk8 calculator and you can see your calculated speed, range, etc.

Thereโ€™s a new calculator also at http://calc.

Itโ€™s a clone of the old esk8.today calculator everyone liked
