URBAN BURRO | Trampa Carver 14ply | Mini Vertigo trucks | 10s4p VTC5 with BMS | Dual sensored 6355 APS 130kv | Esk8 Controller 1.1 | Idea Motor Mounts 4.0 | Trampa Underboard Tray | 7” pneumatics and 125mm Gummies on Superstar hubs

My season is over :disappointed_relieved:

This board tries to kill me, the stuttering motor is back. I have very strange behavior of the whole system. One motor sound bad, sometimes it’s not spinning and then the other spins slow no matter how much throttle. One motor makes loud noises, it’s like blocked and then releases but only weighted not on the bench.

And then the problem disappears for some kilometers and comes back while riding and send you flying. I’m still limping because my hip hurts from knocking on concrete. WTF!

I made a video showing the problems but no motivation to edit it yet, coming soon…

OK in my depression I thought it’s a good time to mount the ATB trucks on the cracked deck. When it came to the point to mount the springs the confusion started. What the hell is going on here?

Do you get any faults in the terminal? I also sometimes have som strange behaviour, where the motors just brake or make a high freq. Noise… But i think its my vesc, but i’m not sure, thats why your problems is interesting to me. I got “over current” faults , when it happens.

@Andy87 Haha great knowledge  I’m using dual esk8 1.1 controller

@Silverline I don’t get faults but also could reproduce the weird behavior once only. Tried it for 10 minutes at home but it’s running like a charm.

Did you check if your caps are still connected to your PCB and are they secured with silicone?

Once I had the problem that suddenly one motor was no more spinning and the other made clicking noises. Then it was spinning again but just for a short time. In the end it was a loose solder joint of one phase wire connector, I didn’t see it because the loose cable was still inside the shrink tube.

Meanwhile I mounted the ATB trucks on the cracked deck with 7" wheels for direct comparison of both versions. Well with almost no pre-load on the springs this happened on hard lean.

After adding more pre-tension (bolt flush with deck) it didn’t happen again.

The difference in size is huge

Just jumping around but it’s also possible when pushing down very hard. I’m sure my neighbours heard the knockings on their ceiling last night :joy:

I bottom out my 16ply HolyPro as well when landing after a jump

I think I might have bought the wrong ply. Is it suppose to flex till almost parallel to the ground normally?

Made my day.

Which deck you are talking about? Carver or HolyPro? And what’s your weight and which ply?

It depends on the flex. With 14ply deck yes but it’s really flexy so higher ply decks would not be parallel. I have to check it on my 16ply Holypro as well, it’s not that flexible compared to 14ply.

I am using a 16ply carver as I’m a stocky dude of 200 to 210lbs

So 16ply seems right. For me with 74kg the 14ply is a bit more flexy than the 16ply for you but not too much. I took this for reference:

Flexometer_Carve

Maybe the 15ply would feel the same as the 14ply for me but it is really bouncy and not for high speed. The flex scared me in the beginning and it looked as if I was drunk, you need some balance. The 15ply would be also alright for me, just a bit stiffer.

Thanks bro ! I’m thinking about a second flex test video with the 16ply HolyPro with mounted Pelicase

It’s a personal thing. I have owned 15, 16 and 17ply’s Trampa decks. 17 ply Holypro is really where my  is. I weight 85kg, but with armour, heavy motors, drivetrain, and battery packs… I’s easy 100kg on the deck. I dont think the chart, is made for esk8 in mind.

You are right, I never thought about the added weight plus backpack, that’s why it’s so flexy  Also according to this chart of the HolyPro the flex of a 16ply deck should be similar to 14ply Carver deck for me but the carver is much more flexible.

Haha. Will we get another video of ur fancy footwork?

Maybe

For now I have a video which is not funny at all. No idea what’s going on here

Sometimes everything runs smooth and suddenly no more. Switching the board or remote off and on makes no difference. What the hell, I can’t ride this board no more

Any ideas?
