Green Hornet Build | 149kv SK3s | Ollin VESCs | Enertion Drive train | LHB WitchbladeAT deck | custom paint

It used to be 20, now it is 10. We just write it so it goes over the limit.

Yeah when I get them set up I’ll try to post them

Thank you esk8 zen

this is fu**n insane man!! really love it with all these amazing details!

List of things I need to try: -all terrain wheels -freeboard bindings -glass grip tape -winning remote

i just got my hands on a couple of those winning remotes. I’m not sure how i feel about them yet. They definitely feel good in the hand, but the throttle feels funny to me.

Also if anyone switches from a steeze to a winning make sure the board’s wheels are off the ground before you power it on and go into the VESC to adjust the PPM settings for the new remote. Steeze threshold settings are such that when used with a winning the board will want to launch as soon as the receiver fires up. Totally different beasts, that need totally different settings. That was my experience with the two i tried out anyway.

Here’s a video of me chopping an enertion truck to fit an evolve pulley in a geniune ABEC 11 flywheel.

the principle is the same, like @Jinra said you take off about 7mm of aluminum for the Enertion pulleys because the bearings in those sit flush with the bearings in your wheel, so the width of a bearing is what you remove, and maybe another 1mm for an extra speed ring if you want to give it some breathing room.

I prefer insert pulleys with bearings because things just stay centered and belts last longer because of it. That being said, i’ve grown very comfortable with chopping trucks for my personal builds which require calibers in multiple colors.

In fact if anyone wants their trucks chopped for insert pulleys let me know, it doesn’t take long and i won’t charge much for the service plus shipping back to you. all i need is the hanger, the pulleys, and the wheels you want to use them with so i can be 100% on fitment.

ok so i just wanted to report back after doing some late night street testing that i’m sure irritated my neighborhood in general.

If anyone is interested in doing an MBS build with 149KV SK3s at 12S on a 14/36 ratio, let me tell you a something: Its a match made in heaven.

These wheels are soft. I didn’t think to look at the durometer, but damn. They absorb so much road rattle. the contact patch is kind of thin because of the domed profile of the wheel, which makes them kind of light on their toes while on the street, but they don’t seem to lose traction or anything like that. They carve pretty hard.

they give fuck-all about short grass, acorns, sticks, packed dirt, small grassy hills, super shitty sidewalks, cheese-grater streets, muddy crap transitions, packed gravel, dirt roads, or really anything of that nature. In my opinion they are ideal commuter wheels for all of those reasons. If you’re lucky enough to have smooth pavement and clean sidewalks, obviously street wheels are better. but if you’re in an urban environment with shit streets and connecting dirt pathways, these wheels are the bomb.

They have almost no traction in wet grass, though. While this board had no issue going up an almost 30% grade packed grass hill, they spun out quite a lot becuase it was damp.

This weekend i’ll try to cap some video of this thing going from street to sidewalk to park lawn with no issue. Its just really hard to capture that kind of footage at one in the morning.

The only issue is its kind of hard to stay on it while its rocketing through a bunch of bumps since it has no foot straps, but i think foot straps would be overkill for this kind of AT-Crossover type build. Its not limited to streets but its certainly not a pneumie mountain board build.

my son was following me around on the rat board while i was doing this stuff. I splashed through puddles and plowed through broken gravely pavement and over fallen sticks and palm fronds and crap in the mall parking lot, then it was time to go home. But Rat’s battery died so we tucked his phase leads and i towed him home.

It gave no shits about towing him all the way back home back accross all that shitty pavement and up a few decent hills.

It has some top end but i’m not sure how much yet. I suspect somewhere between 25 and 30mph just based on the throttle response i was seeing last night. And the new Witchblade AT deck was carving deep and very pleasant to ride.

So after all that i need to repaint the box after notching some “wheel wells” for the motor mounts. They come closer to the box than i would like, so i’m going to make some dips in the box flange to eliminate any potential contact.

No moisture at all in the components. The bag like seal I’ve been using seems to work out very well to keep the water from spraying in, and once the box is on with clear silicone sealant there won’t be anywhere for water to get into, so i think this beast might be light rain proof at that point, except for the remote.

Just what I wanted to hear, gonna have to try them for the next build.

Like u said they are a perfect match my first and only build so far is a sk3 149kv/12s/16T-36T and i couldn’t be happier and im using 83mm flywheels, im thinking on getting either the 100 mbs or 107 flywheels and lower my motor pulley a little to 14 or 15, man im 210 lbs and its pushing me at 29mph and the fuck…er keeps pushing like a train

The torque coming from those 149s man… its kind of ungodly. I was initially a little worried about running 36t pulleys on 100mm wheels… but damn i feel silly now.

We’ll see how the enertion 190s do at the same ratio on the same wheels soon enough. I’ve got two… possibly three more builds similar to this coming up.

one of them is gonna be loaded up with EL wire.

forgot to mention how cool these motors sound on the street. I love them so much my heart hurts.

I think I liked the green wheels better, but hey give the customer what they want.

Do u have a screen shot of ur vesc settings yet?

Those are just test wheels. It will ship with fresh green ones

Did some commuter transition testing this morning…

Hi, that’s the kind of esk8 I need to ride around the place I live! That’s the reason I’m not totally satisfied with my pre-built, I need an esk8 that can tackle other terrains besides smooth bike lanes or roads.

Your technique for getting off the esk8 is kind of particular. :grinning:

Either way, excellent work with this build. You’re the man.

Would anybody happen to know how to reach speeds of 40 mph+ without sauntering? If so I would love to know.:+1:t2::smile:
