TorqueBoards motor mount comes loose

SF Bay Area is nortorious for potholes and shitty pavement. I recently purchased TB reverse mounts to alleviate clearance issues. Excited to test them out. I bought them before the instagram Pic of TB fixed reverse motor mounts, look promising.

@ethel - I use to only ride in SF. SF riding is much more fun then neighborhood riding LOL BLEH… :face_vomiting: I haven’t had any issues with the current motor mounts personally.

Will have a new 2 pc adapter soon though for those that want it.

Sand the paint off the truck where the clamp goes. Install the clamp. Take it to an auto repair shop and have them weld it on. Buy @marcmt88 mounts next time.

is that a suitable torque wrench? also what kind of head would it need? sad to hear this problem is occuring as i just got their reverse mounts

A 3/8 rachet with a 4mm hex socket. I believe these are what @Deckoz used. Lowes, Home Depot, Sears, Harbor Freight all should carry these. I would recommend just buying them as a set of you can, since you will probably use them in the future. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00A50N9VC/ref=mp_s_a_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1522803216&sr=8-13&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=3%2F8+wrench+ratchet https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000N321S8/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1522805279&sr=8-4&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=4mm+hex+socket&dpPl=1&dpID=41eaZggiQgL&ref=plSrch (I changed the link because I realized I had a 3/8 ratchet and 1/4 socket.)

@Ebisane9 Personally, I doubt you need all that. I simply just use a T Handle Hex Tool. https://www.mcmaster.com/#4973a45/=1c9c199 As long as you set it up like @Deckoz mentioned http://www.electric-skateboard.builders/t/torqueboards-motor-mount-comes-loose/50972/43?u=torqueboards

I’ll have another option soon if you do have any issues.

Set screws work but too many people have issues for whatever reason. I have gotten them to work fine but just the fact so many other people have issues makes it an issue for me now too. It is why I went with a 2 piece clamp system. It is more bulky and takes a little time to adjust, but it is way more effective at clamping overall. Good luck stripping an M6 cap head 12.9 bolt

Glad I got Marc’s mounts, I was a day away from getting those TB reverse mounts too. Seeing all these people with issues I can see the HUB and CarvOn’s advantages

@Mikenopolis - Wait till you see our new hubs… currently in testing. :+1:

There will be a limited beta test… so the limited amount of people can go crazy and help improve the product if needed.

This is exactly what happened to me too! I have one of the old ones with the small setscrews and it comes loose all the time. Besides that, it is never in proper alignment. I find it very irritating but there isn’t much I can do about it, not like I wanna buy new mounts

@ShutterShock - No worries. I’ll send you the new one. Should have some soon and will PM everyone.

That would be awesome. I really appreciate your customer support. That new mount looks very solid, I have always been a fan of ones with a shear bar to join the two halves.

I’ve got the 218mm trucks right now and I am super happy with them

this is what I used to torque mine down. Just waiting for the loctite to cure (24 hours) then I will start testing to see if this was the solution.

For those of you that can’t get the loctite to work even after waiting 24hrs, it is probably due to the paint on the mount. I put loctite on mine a couple times with no luck. Then I found somewhere that loctite primer would fix this issue. I bought some Loctite 19269 7649 Primer N Activator off Amazon and used it with blue loctite on my mounts. I haven’t had any bolts come loose since. The activator dry’s in about 30 seconds. Once that is dry, you can apply loctite. It will dry much quicker than the normal 24hrs, but I still waited to be sure. Make sure to also follow the instructions above for properly installing the mount.
