Riding home! I’ll update this thread on how the modification is done in further detail when i’m back!
Ok here’s how i did it. Started off by sanding away majority of the paint, exposing the bare fiberglass.
Placed the enclosure on the deck to the desired spot, and used masking tape as a gauge to where it meets the deck.
Two layers of fiberglass and resin over the inside.
Would you eat that? I used 2K fiberglass body filler, its usually used for body work and or fixing car dents etc. Slatter a good amount over it
Use a Rotary tool with a cut off wheel or a belt sander and cut where the edge of the masking tape is.
Sand the inside to get an even wall thickness as well.
Sand and apply more filler to the outside if needed Adding tape to the sides because of the drop down from the deck, more material going on
Much better!
@nuttyjeff no more pls
Nutty build! Can’t wait for you to test this! I’m specifically interested in knowing if you get any speed wobbles at max speed with this setup or not. If I entered all the specs right, the esk8 calculator says your max speed loaded should be 65 km/h or so
Shame that wheel cutouts weren’t big enough – I plan on making my next build drop-through, so will have to look for a different deck I guess. (Then again, Surfrodz RKP trucks can be 360mm in total length, compared to the 340mm of the Haggyboard Kahua trucks – would that be sufficient? )
I went at 45kmh with no issues so far.
20mm more will help, but youd definitely still have to push the trucks out by a min of 30mm if you want to use these wheels. Either that or chop abit of the deck away.
link for this deck please!
loving the custom enclosure and colour scheme
Man this one goes directly in the best build 2019 future competition! Really clean and beauty! Love the gear drive. DO you mind to share the link to the deck and the bad liner spray? I like a lot the bed liner texture.
i agree. this build is . how much he personalized this amazes me and the process and steps shown is impeccable. i wish i could do something like this.
The bedliner spray we used is from a brand called Samurai Paint. Its a two component spray can. However if you are looking for alternatives in the US/UK/EU, search keywords are truck bedliner spray
We all do! It really does look amazing. Thanks to @Linny for introducing them to me. you can use it directly on FDM 3d prints to hide most of the print lines too!
I will have a look again. Didn’t find any think conperable that you can buy in a can. Since it’s two component once activate do you have to use the all can on there is a way to do not use it all and keep it for next time? Thx for info!
Glorious build there Jeff
Love the way you can turn out what look to be milled parts with a angle/bench grinder! Don;t try this at home!
And I think I love that bedliner spray & have something for it, which one is it?
Nope, it has a recommended pot life of about 8 hours, but I found that it tends to harden 2 hours in.
I doubt it! Samurai bedliner spray is not a brand im familiar with
Where do you buy it from?
We have a local supplier here.
Ah shucks, I’ve been trying to find it online but no success
