Is this VESC based, or is it your complete design and firmware?

Thanks thanks! I certainly hope for succes and sharing it again! This will be a crazy expensive one to build yourself trough :stuck_out_tongue: .

@uigiroux this is VESC 6 based, I will only be using the same controller everything else will be custom. It should be able to do quite a bit of current but also at a higher voltage, testing will need to tell the eventual current and voltage rating, I cant wait to test it xD.

Im sure you’ll have plenty of other people willing to beta test it too

Please let me know if you spin boards. I would love to build one of these guys. I think you’re on to a really good design that could be oil cooled pretty easily and reliably.

I must admit I’m pretty hesitant to ride with these batteries for the first time…

I’m more scared of your “enclosure” than those batteries.

LMAO ME TOO

It was however a sucess. Had the VESCs limited to 40A per motor and only saw about 15A discharge on battery packs built for at least 150A continuous discharge.

TIME TO STRIP IT BACK DOWN. I’ll remove the packs now and perform full inspection of the welds and support structure and reassemble with new vinyl tape.

Any suggestions on a real enclosure??

PS the ziptie is my spirit animal <3

I love zip ties too, just never thought to make an enclosure out of them, hahaha. I’m more velcro and glass fibre tape for that job.

This one of my early just make it work “enclosures” I find it funny that I had bolts holding down tape. The irony.

Hah just made an enclosure for strapping on batteries too. Ones I had done previously to allow them to slide in and out were too hard to print and would break over time from use. Using some backpack buckles/straps rated for 200lbs so I can pop the enclosed lipos off and throw a new set on more easily for extended trips or charging while riding.

Maiden voyage with that thing, and my buddy didn’t tighten the mount enough, or let the loctIte fully cure. Nothing to see here.

I was wondering who would notice that. LOL.

Edit: I also had a sneaking suspicion that it would be you @Mikenopolis

Cheap flashlights bought off AliExpress. Sk-68?

Construction has its weaknesses, and vibrations will kill them in no time.

However, I dissected them and soldered wires to the small pcbs behind the led, put two in series and connected to a 5v power bank.

Lights are rated for a maximum of 3,7v each.
