Cheers. Good enough for general tinkering and assembly. Still got the big tools and machines at work for the more intricate stuff. Bloody cold in the garage though !

sounds like a job for a little cast iron stove with extraction pipe, nice space :+1:

I’ve got a garage/workshop for laminating and conservatory for assembly. Both cold now, so much so that the missus has now givien up her sewing area in the conservatory which was encroaching on valuable building area… A little stove would be just the job but not safe for the laminating area really!

Have you tried one of these kerosene heaters? http://www.toyotomi.jp/en-products/kerosene-heaters/convention-type/omni230/ I have one in my workshop and it does wonders. The flame is enclosed and should not pose a problem. If it still does you should definitely get one of these instead  https://www.honeywellanalytics.com/en-gb/products/GasAlertMicroClip-Series

Aww man, you have all the fun toys! Can that desktop CNC handle metal? I think I can get the same model locally but I was never sure what it’s capable of.

That’s why I bought it. Of course has its limit being a CNC router and not mill. You have to go careful with the feed, but you can make fun stuffs. Stepcraft was the only one I could access in EU othersie you have other options too… Also the Chinese 6040 is pretty good and you get more volume and ball screws.

Im realy in love with your workshop! Also im so hyped to also build a dd yours looks promising

Thx man! Yeh DD is taking a lot of my time :joy: This one I finished today. I have to assembly it though. I wanted a conversion kit for the MAD hubs. My next DD would be from scratch. I made the design and have the parts… Time to make it real. How are you doing with the DD?

If it can make a decent sized motor mount or 72t pulley that’s good enough for me!

It can work up to carbons fiber and pretty hard aluminium like 6061. Can go up to 7070 but the setting as to be even more conservative for good tolerance.

I’ve been wanting a desktop router that can mill aluminum what do you recommend? Those drives look great

I did a bit of research depends where you are located and moreover how much are you willing to pay for it  Of course a CNC mill is more rigid and better for aluminium but the price starts from 3K for a pre-built one

image image image image I am jealous of all these workshops , my workshop is my staircase as that’s the only place that my kids will leave me alone for 5 minutes to change tyres / clean board etc

It can be your bat cave, failing that a good place to store wine and cheese

Indeed it was used for that purpose. I bought a dehumidifiers and make it a cozy place for Esk8 biilding
