Have you ever heard of XCSOURCE 2.4GHz Remote?

Hello comunity my name is Bobby Belanger. Iā€™m new here but not new to eskateboards. Built several boards back in 2009-2010 with salvage razor parts then salvage exskate parts and maybe some Eglide stuff. I thought of starting a company ā€œ NYPB ā€œ (New York Power Boards) but was not dedicated enough to take it that far. I probably built the first board with Lionā€™s built into the deck back in 2010. I didnā€™t know much then and blew it up within a few weeks but it was hot shit for a minuteā€¦:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: My last build was about 2012 running on 4 Makita batteries. 18mph and unlimited range by my perspective. I rode that board for amost 6 years untill last week when I called its time of death.
Currently I have a Meepo on order and just bought the roughest boosted board Iā€™ve ever seen on Ebay.
Iā€™m diving back into building but starting with re-building the boosted.
Additionally: I Build/Fly/Crash FPV race drones and have been building a few bluetooth speakers. no ones going to read all thatā€¦ How to get pics on hereā€¦

@Detonatedfrost Cool story. Im always amazed when I hear some folks were doing this a ā€œlongā€ time before it got as ā€œmainstreamā€ as it is now.

ā€¦Even though still half the world hasnt seen or heard much about eskates, besides the big metropoles, of course.

Anyways, nice to hear you are ā€œback on trackā€ and ready to pursue this trail again with ā€œnewest technologyā€

The biggest development Iā€™m excited about is the VESC with a GUI. I use advanced ESCā€™s in my drones with an incredible GUI (BLheli 32). Iā€™ve watched BLheli develop over the years. Looks like VESC is on the same path.

My biggest disappointment is that quality remotes are still allusive.

@Downhill_Hawaii yes! that is the one i have ordered

Hi.

Iā€™m Sean.

Wellington, New Zealand.

Skateboarding for the first in 25 years and love my electronic gadgets (ESP8266 FTW!) so motorising my longboard seemed like the logical step. I have a 2-3km commute through the CBD at 6am in the morning so it will be a very fun ride each day.

Ordered the HobbyKing Turnigy kit a month and a half ago and itā€™s just turned up. Canā€™t wait to put some bits together tonight and make my maiden voyage to work tomorrow morning.

Have already built a controller that emulates a nunchuk (untested without a VESC for 1.5 months) but will use one of the Winning Remotes (US$30 on AliExpress) for now. PPM will be OK until I get things sorted out. Will get my HM-10 working soon too for some logging/configuring on the fly.

Running my rig on 2xTurnigy 5S lipos. Only 20C so might not be super powerful. Will probably set the VESC up for a 10A limit as Iā€™m more interested in ā€œmaintainingā€ my speed than accelerating. Roll-on ā€œcruise-controlā€ with the faux-nunchuk!

So cheers for all of the articles/topics/posts that I have been reading so far.

Welcome dude! A DIY board with integrated battery and electronics space is a awesome idea, you could prob. add a DIY battery enclosure as wellā€¦ canā€™t wait to see what you come up with :grinning:

choosing how much kv will depends on how much you weight. With a 28 inch deck, meaning smaller wheelbase and therefore there is not a lot room for battery and ESC. Donā€™t let this scare you tho. When I started, I absolutely donā€™t know shit about circuitry. But lurking around help you learnā€¦ a lot. Trucksā€¦this is tricky. 28ā€™ā€™ board will, I assume, have 7-8 inches in width. And a normal caliber truck 10 inches from axle to axle will look weird on a 7 inch board, unless you like that then get caliber truck. Iā€™m in the process of buying paris truck. I will let you know what motor mount will fit what not. Motor: if you weight 200+lbs then go with 190 kv or less. 200+kv means more speed but less torque. esc: whatā€™s your budget? because turnigy esc is fine I guess but I recommend torqueboardā€™s VESC or focbox from enertion. battery: since you said you have little experience with circuits then go with lipo batteries. BUT since you want waterproof board then you have to put it to consideration that WITHOUT BMS, you will have to take the lipo battery in and out to charge it INDIVIDUALLY. So do research and consider what to buy. I recommend you research 18650 batteries and go from there. remote: I never went deep into this but Iā€™m sure you can get a cheap one from ebay pulleys: either 3d print with strong filament or you can get a kit from amazon or torqueboard, whatever cheaper. wheel: 83mm or 90mm or 97 mm flywheel clone on amazon would be ideal.
BEFORE you buy ANY of these, please post your plan so people can help you confirm that they would all work together.

Hello! Iā€™ve been skating for almost 7 years now, and a few months ago I stepped onto an eboard for the first time (At a demo for inboard). Since then Iā€™ve been thinking about getting one and now that Iā€™ve found this community Iā€™ve decided to jump in and make a DIY e-board. My engineering experience includes a robotics class when I was in highschool and some model rocket building. I want to build a board for fun as well as for commuting. 20+ mph, 10+ miles range, and something that can handle small hills (budget is $500-900 USD). I have some boards lying around that I could use, as well as access to tools. I will start making a build list soon, I think I still have a lot more reading to do to know where to start. Looking forward to sharing the adventure! -A

Hey Iā€™m new to electric skateboards. I donā€™t personally make DIY boards but I like modifying existing boards. The current one I use is the Evolve Bamboo GTX. Iā€™m looking to waterproof it so it can be ridden in the rain

Hello! Iā€™m looking to build an electric skateboard as a side project during school, but would like advice on the build before I buy. I put together a parts list but am not sure about the battery or motor size. Iā€™m afraid the batteries may be overkill and am unsure of the kv for the motor. The most distance I would need would be around 4 miles (though more would not hurt), desired speed: ~25 mph or 40 kmh. Motor: Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 - 6374-192KV Brushless Outrunner Motor VESC: TORQUE VESC Mechanics: SINGLE BOLT ON MOTOR MOUNT W/ DRIVE WHEEL KIT, 16T motor pulley, 63mm motor mount. Wheels: 90mm flywheel clones (Blank Pro) Controller: 2.4Ghz Remote Controller from Psychotiller Battery: TWO Turnigy nano-tech 2650mah 6S 45~90C Lipo Pack w/XT-60 in series. Trucks: Caliber II Fifty 10 in Thank you!

Hi there! Iā€™m Brian and Iā€™m new here. I signed this up hoping to learn some more about electric skateboard set up as I plan to build one within couple months from now on. Oh, by the way, Iā€™m from Oakland Calif. (VIrginia native) Also I am Deaf. I used to skate for 20+ years before I became full time job placement specialist for Deaf students in Bay Area. My friend bought Halo electric board that inspired me to build one myself.

Hello, Dave from se mn. Retired, build batteries for fun. Found sight while searching balance chargers. I am a stocking distributor for Chargery. Will have new product C4012b in my hands this week.

My name is Andy I am a Marine, 61, about 290 lbs. and never been on a board. I am desiring a electric mountain board - starting with a deck made of 9 ply maple (maybe the center ply different color). The deck will be slightly different to handle two channel trucks to the rear and one truck to the front. I want two motors, maybe four, need power and distance (20 mi.) Where speed is not that critical, about 10-15 mph Not sure of the board length at least 42 inches. NEED some input on the shape of the deck. I want to mainly cruise around and learn to carve and basic boarding skills. I am here to learn how to do this, so I will desire a lot of input from you all. I am on a veteran 's disability pension. So I expect the project will be long and slow. So letā€™s begin.
