New Hummie Hubs!

hmm, maybe a piece of squirrel :D. I’ll check it out later. Btw, one hole is occupied by wire, I guess this is the termination right? I checked a lot of pictures in this thread but couldn’t come to a conclusion

Yea that hole has the wye termination

Sorry to the last people I still need to send motors to. I dropped the ball and been laying around fucking off wasting time chatting on here, but am sending the last parts back to China express to be slightly altered as needed and express back n I’ll have it all good to go to you by time they get back. I anticipate 2 weeks tops.

So been trying to figure out how I can utilize this great platform to create a pneumatic hub motor.

Here’s one idea for a 200x50 tire:

PNG

The idea is that you would choose which bell you want during the assembly stage and it uses the same motor as before.

The other idea I have is using the same setup, but using a wider stator. This would surely yield a much better motor. Just curious how much weaker the acceleration will become with the 8 inch tire.

I’m back on the road! @Hummie amazing. I lost the nut that holds the motor on. He got me the part ASAP and hand holding me all the way through. Added loctite, it’s stayed on at least for the test ride. I’m gonna have to carry an 8mm hex wrench and the bike tool around for a couple of weeks.

Did a test ride, max throttle up and down some hills. No fault codes, no problems. Amazingly, despite having the phase wire disconnect under load at least twice, focbox looks to have survived. The MT60 connector might have something to do with it, disconnecting all 3 phases at once.

I’m gonna take the opportunity again to say how much I like this setup. The deck and motors are in harmony, and the ride is amazing. I enjoyed the hell out of the test ride

I recommend really cranking it down. I put a far amount of torque on that nut and no locktite and with the Barrett Junction race under their belt, the nuts are still snug.

Yeah, guys running these motors, it’s worth a check every now and then. And buy the bike tool. You can tighten the can against the nut, like a jamnut.

I’ll probably put the torque wrench on it, so I can check if they’ve loosened periodically.

I torqued it down until it was snug, then did an extra half a turn with a lot of force. Seems to have worked, but yea, keep an eye on it.

I haven’t put at least 300miles on it without loctite. You really only need to torque it down.

On the other hand, this is for everyone. Go ahead and test the motor kv before riding. @hummie found out that he yeilded between 65-85kv just because of various magnet placement in respect to the steel hub.

Both of mine sets at 70-73kv. And @mmaner’s 85.

Best if u tighten the motor to the hanger w the two pin tool then the locknut on top while holding the motor fixed hard with the two pin . So all three tight against each other not just the motor n locknut.

Curious what kv people have and as @Winfly says there’s a surprising amount of variation even with exact clone windings and magnets. The variance only image due to how the magnets are placed related to the teeth on the outside. Surprising as looking at the pull force simulator for steel here https://www.kjmagnetics.com/blog.asp?p=steel-thickness-calculator (think still here) anyway it shows 1mm thick steel behind magnets reflect all strength but it’s showing not to be the case and if the magnet is positioned with the thick steel behind it ironically it reflects less and it is reflected more with the gap behind the magnet because the field comes out at the edges not directly behind. Ideal is a lower kv as its inverse the kt, which is the torque per amp is going up. Ideal would be the magnets placed so a lower kv (in front of the gap not tooth) and then maybe only 8 wraps of wire needed instead of 9 for the same kv and then less electrical resistance and a better more powerful motor:doesn’t get as hot for same power output Simulations aren’t as good as the real thing by a long shot. 14 teeth n gaps matching 14 magnets

Wow what a bunch of talk. Sorry to the last few of u I owe motors to. We both know who u are. What an amazing amount of bull I can spew I can see here with excuses. No reason not to have them done by end of the weekend.

Come on you slack bastard. I been waiting ages for mine.

Anyone wants a set of Hummies V4 hubs? I’m getting a new set of custom kv so I don’t need my old set. They are 73kv and will be basically everything new and just with the old hubs. New sleeves, bearing, front trucks, centrax.

I’m looking to get about the same og retail price since ive only ridden them for 150-200 miles and comes maintained and new everything. Pm me offeres.

What new kv are you getting?

Should be done all owed motors today. Phew.

@Winfly motors are fine. He lives here in sf and I can confirm they’re good and he just wants the higher kv. Practically new since w all new rubber n trucks. Instead of 9 turns I’ll make them 7. I’ll post the kv and I’ll have a couple sets extra to sell but really we’re just starting filming and hope people get in the Kickstarter.

I’m selling a set for 550$ now, to be received with a week, yes a week, so I can pay for shipping these last 4 motor sets that I owe to people in eu out tomorrow(I’m always broke but the motors are great regardless). A couple people have written with interest and I’m just posting it here to all and any. I’ll have a couple sets left over later at 600$ anyone who can get me the 550$ fnf on paypal today can give me an opportunity to be on time at a week and get a low price.

Come with 2 motors, both trucks (custom 12mm and Paris 195), 2 motor tires, and two centrax 83mm

But will sell complete boards and hubs on Kickstarter soon. This video has no motors and just playing w the camera riding with prof shartsis. Will get @evoheyax and @Winfly and myself and anyone else who wants to get in…maybe giant race up tam here in northern Cali or something but it will be likely one take n done and up. Just need figure a couple details on the board

Is the Kickstarter out yet? If so can u link it? :grinning:

Sooooooon. Sooner than you’d expect given how slow I am but prof shartsis is really running the video and he likes doing this stuff and is a pro and has a new camera and making a video is impossible to screw up.
