3 things that work really well together. The crimper, braided cable and the 12-10 awg crimp. The cable is just perfect for bending. It turns out to be equivalent to 10awg wire, maybe a bit better. I have been very impressed with the quality of crimp that that the crimper makes. I haven’t been able to pull it off, like at all. Really good value for money.
Second thing that I finalized is the deck adapter for the nese modules. The circular cross section gives the module a nice springy base which conforms to the shape of the deck. As usual all files shared.
Next up is mounting them on the deck. Have a project deadline. So will work on it after the 15th.
I know you’ve been working on these mounts, but would it not be simplier to just use silicone spacers as standoffs and use mounting holes to screw modules to the deck? You can get wood inserts to make it reusable.
thats what i did. but i used normal wood screws. you get a slight bend into the modules, so if you want the premium solution, @mishrasubhransu seems to solve it all, and i must admit, those things look sick^^
So on decks that are flat width-wise you wouldn’t need the mounts as much? My understanding is that’s the main reason for them while the braid allows the flex on the board lengths-wise?
Yes, that was precisely my first thought. but the deck that I got is concave, so it is kind of weird mounting them. Also, I felt like the mounting screws would put pressure on the modules when the board is bending along the width. Of course it won’t fail instantly but like a long-term fatigue failure. Maybe it’s just me overthinking it, but it’s definitely a clean way of mounting it and providing relief from vibrations and lateral bending.
The mounts are for mounting the nese modules on lateral curved surface and to provide strain relief when the board bends laterally. For bending along the length, the braided cable do the work.
I really like how the braided cables look so i think im going to do it that way as well.
Reason I asked was i plan on mounting on a hummie deck which I believe doesn’t have any concave on the mounting side so i could save abit of space for these as i May likely double stack for 12s8p later on lol
Dont have these modules but what I would do is get some NEUTRAL CURE SILICONE, I found some for like £5 ($7)
And you can just try and see if you can apply the silicone on the deck and just press the modules onto the deck (or the other way around) but it provides dampening properties and stick real good and some people like LHB use it to attach their battery packs and other electronics to the deck/electroincs
I didn’t really understand those mounts until just now seeing them from the side. That’s super cool! Are you thinking of selling them or can you upload the file?
