My first build, e-mtb trampa

yeah I would not use a paraboard. paraboard will make charge time longer than two B6’s paraboard requires that you remove the batteries from the series configuration to charge, or else smoke.

using 2 batteries in series you can keep them connected up and just charge via two B6 chargers you can make your enclosure such that you can still access the balance leads and charge the board in half the time without having to open or disconnect anything.

heres a video on how to make up the charging leads (12S example is towards the end of the video)

Thanks @lowGuido i will look at it when building. So i’ll buy 2 B6 charges…

For now i’m waiting for parts to arrive. Bought a motormount-set from @Idea Also a max6 esc mount and receiverbox from @Nowind And a shitload seperate orders from eBay. Yesterday the remote, receiver and 10awg wires arrived from alien power. It’s going to be christmas for a lot of days this year

So again talking about chargers, I found 2 different kind of b6 chargers. One for external powersupply https://m.ebay.com/itm/112479385746 And one with build in powersupply https://m.ebay.com/itm/282133050267?_trkparms=pageci%3A4b4a9638-9c52-11e7-abbc-74dbd1800b8b|parentrq%3A9447e0e715e0a86642a821bfffddb420|iid%3A5&_mwBanner=1

Wich one is the best, the most practical of the fatest? I would like the black one because of the build-topic powersupply but is this as good as the other?

I haven’t used either but i was looking at the same two Imax B6a variants as you, i would go for 2x Imax B6A+ “the black ones” but would look for a supplier thats is local-ish to your location and reputable, in case of returns as there are many clones of both chargers some work fine some don’t and some are dangerous.

I think Hobbyking sells genuine ones but their returns/customer service is known for being poor.

Edit… or keep an eye out on this site for secondhand bargains, like this 8s charger with power supply http://www.electric-skateboard.builders/t/open-box-parts-vesc-motor-motor-mount-gt2b-wheel-puellys-8s-balence-charger/32562

Hey guys, It’s been a while but i’m need to patiently wait for all the parts to arrive. Currently i’m searching some seconde hand chargers. And i found this fine man who sells his chargers. Can you please tell me if these are OK to use or are they a no-go?

Looks solid to me. Ask whenever the, chargers are oem or the clones. Though it looks like it could be the real deal. The yellow / gold charger looks interesting, not sure.i.have seen.many of them for sale

Thanks, i was indeed concerned about those being clones or not. I will ask him…thanks!

Yay I’m so happy right now!

The motormount-set from @idea and the chargers are on the way! Last week I received the ESC-mount and Traxxas receiverbox from @nowind.

It’s a new month so the rest of the parts will be ordered very soon.

Also I decided to make a how-to-video on YouTube because there are too few tutorials for building a DIY Electric mountainboard. Hope you guys are looking forward to this like I am!

You can charge those packs at 1-2c,thus 5a is a bit low, but if you have the time to wait. The ISDT chargers over at banggood deliver a bit more if it’s within your budget.

That’s maybe a good upgrade. But can i supply power with this for both chargers? Cause that would be nice since i want a small “set” for charging my batteries.

Linked to the wrong product, sorry. That’s the power supply that would go along with the charger (isdt charger).

The charger itself delivers 15a, thus you would have one power supply (link above), one charger and most likely a balancer board to charge both Lipos at once.

Never heard of a balancer board. Can you link me an example?

For example. P.S. edited my previous post to clarify.

My way is a cheap 8s BMS for charging only. Having 4x 4s Zippy Compacts, putting 2 in parallel and the two packs in serial. I post some pictures when i find some time soldering that together.

@telnoi thanks for the clarification, now i understand! @TarzanHBK I am considering a bms after I finish this build. First i want to keep it basic but rolling. Then i Will see what i’m missing.

I was trying to order two Zippy Flightmax 8400mah 4s2p. Which are in the uk Warehouse. Apparently they can’t ship from there to belgium! Does somebody know why? Does anybody know other webshops where i can find these batteries?

Had the same problem- i´d liked to get my hands on the nanotech 8s from UK and they responded, that they are only able to ship these to UK. All other countries have to get them from International Warehouse or EU, if you are from EU. I ended up with the 4 4s 40c Zippy Compacts, which are really the best thing to put on the board after the nanotechs. So i would strongly advise to buy these! BMS for charging only is the cheapest option to charge the batteries after the option with two imax b6.

Yeah, it’s essentially classified as dangerous goods and most carriers will therefore not accept lipo.

Hey hey i found something else! Bought 4 Zippy Flightmax 8000mah 4s1p 30c and best of all they fit all 4 in my batterycase! Everything is on their way!

Today the motors (sk3 6374 192kv) arrived. I’ve noticed that the shafts are completely round. Do i need to file a (or two) notch(es) to mount the motorcogs? What are the best ways to do that?

@Stefanj yeh I think it is best if there is flat spot… I used angle grinder to grind it flat…
