General Carvon Thread - V3 - V4 SD - V4 XL and future products

from my understanding the carvon drives dont use 8mm kingping but 10mm no skatetool has that not that i know of.

I believe that depends on which drive.

speed drive = stepped down to 8mm speed xl= stepped down to 10mm

Need to be clear you are talking about kingpin or axle stepdown 12::10::8mm. My understanding is the kingpin remains standard on all these carvon trucks.

From what I understand, the speed drive is stepped all the way down to 8mm while the speed xl is stepped down to 10mm

Maximum winds speed shall be considered ev. the ride posture / body high as well. No idea how to measure the tarmac quality.

Does anyone know if you order just the motors from Carvon website and choose the option for front trucks with unbranded wheels for an extra $100, are the truck’s CNC’d like the rear ones or are they cast? Also, are they matching diameter?

Not sure about cast or CNC but the V3s front truck was not the same width. Slightly narrower and not same design Kinda see it from this picture I have.

Do you be a pic of the truck? I went to the website of the company that he says they would be from and they all look to quality CNC’d to me… So I was hoping I’d I do go that route it’ll be a similar truck that you could just buy from the site on your own… There widest one is 200mm though, so that’s 105mm short of the rear.

Lol weird, it only showed me the first pic of your board top view, hence me asking for the other pics, haha.

Keep in mind that mine is V3 so might be different

Check out Surfrodz. That is what I’m going to pair with my speed xl. They do have a 200mm hanger with various axel length to buy to add on. you can get 50mm, 60mm or 70mm axels. You add that axel length to the hanger width for the total tip to tip length.

I know it sounds weird, 200mm hanger 50mm axel 50mm axel

equals 300mm tip to tip. I believe. Some of those axel ends screw into the actual hanger, so I dont know how to exactly account for that…

You can also get additional spacers to increase the total width. It’s a pretty cool modular system, but definitely not cheap when looking at a Torque 218mm, but I think it will be dope.

I’m still a little unsure what spacer/axel width combo to get me closest to the 305mm of the speed drive xl. But it’s either going to be the 50 or 60mm with some small spacers.

Lol this post is like the ramblings of a mad man. probably not useful. enjoy.

That’s a great idea I didn’t even consider that when I was going through their different parts but yes I suppose that’s what to do for matching lengths. I would call their customer support and I’m sure they can get your the exact setup you need for a 305mm diameter.

On another note, I was just on Carvon’s website and they have the ‘Exo Commuter Add-Ons’ and one of the things it includes is a battery pack that looks professional, it’s in a custom plastic or similar material battery enclosure with a simple plug in end, so you can just slide the battery in its slot and the connection will be made without having to hook up a XT90 cable or anything. I know this is how most of the brand name Esk8 builders have their batteries designed, I was just curious if anyone knows how one would be able to create one of these ourselves. I’m sure the enclose itself is easily enough 3-D printed, but what are the electrical components, on both ends, male and female, that we would use to do this. Also, with this system, I’m sure you can have a BMS installed in there somewhere, but would you never be able to balance charge one of these? I’m guess that since in the picture provided, you can unscrew the front, and once you remove that, you just simply unplug the battery leads, and maybe they have the JST cable that’s required for cell balancing and BMS right there capable of extending to a cell balancer? Thoughts???

FYI The EXO is built/altered with a KooWheel 2 (KooBoard) Check YouTube. There’s a video out there of the disassembly of that battery.

So, are these Surf Rodz RKP trucks the best option to match the 305mm speed drive XL trucks? Do the 50 & 60mm axles actually widen the trucks by that much, or is some of that length eaten up after mounting them on the hanger? Since they’re on sale, I was thinking about buying an RKP truck set (which I assume is a pair) with 50 or 60mm axles and splitting the set & cost with one of you guys, (1 truck = ~$75 shipped total in US). Anyone have any interest in this or insight on the axle length situation? @Psychotiller?

Their is no “Best” truck. It is about how you want the truck to look and perform. Surf Rodz are good, Don’t trip trucks are good.
