FOCBOX UNITY | Support, Setup & Troubleshooting

Hello, I am beginner on this world, I replaced all electronic parts from my old Koowheel electric skateboard, by new 2x 350W Skubull Hub motors and powered by the Unity from Enertion, the accelaration is fantastic, maybe dangerous for me. But I have an big and dangerous issue, with the remote control (Enertion Nano-X Hand Controller), when I start to brake, sometime braking does not work or sometimes jerks. This problem appears more at high speed. I try to change parameters on the Unity, but nothing change. Is somebody met this issue ?

Let us know your unity settings of the motor and battery tab in the unity app. And what kind of battery you are running.

You do calibrate the remote everytime before you switch the board on? (Power up remote, full throttle, full brake, power up board)

Make sure you did the initial app remote calibration in r-spec fast mode (mode switch in down position).

Can‘t find it in the latest 23.44 either. not implemented yet Jeff? I just installed my Hoyt puck and 15% deadzone is a lot with the puck for whatever reason.

Hi, yestarday issue was solved. It was a bad contact of the loopkey, in the anti-spark XT90.

Yesterday we did the first test and it’s great.

@CarlCollins

I wrote Bara a message about my faulty Unity switch but he is not responding.

Switch does not work sometimes. Can‘t turn on or off the board. Other times its working fine. the nice haptic clicky sound is gone so maybe its not sealed properly anymore? wires and soldering joints are fine.

How do I get a new switch?

No clicking seems like a mechanical failure we’ve seen with some of these switches. There’s been a slight mechanical redesign on the internals of the switches for the next batches of unities which should improve reliability there. Are you in the US?

Hey I’m having an issue with my setup I thought it was motor related but seems to be vesc. It acts erratically. Hold throttle in (slightly) and motors judder then pull me in one direction. Let off throttle, pull again and it judderes and pulls me in the other. Random direction each time. I’ve run the setup on the android app multiple times and i keep ending up with the same problem. Sometimes change the settings slightly and end up with a squeel and _drv error. Control is set to forward/brake so no idea why I’m going both directions with throttle. Please help :joy::sob:ui ui 20000mah 12s (2x6s series) maytech waterproof remote. I’m thinking of fitting horns to my board and turning it into a rodeo :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

First it looks like your App isn’t connected?? Your max battery amp is massive … 120a is huge are you in mountain board or something? I’m 120kg and only run it at 50a and max out my speed everywhere… when you run Config are you running it the controller in max mode during calibration? I assume your running the newest firmware etc… your ppm should be at 0 if it’s not doing anything… motors cogging could also be broken solder (bad connection) on a phase plug or if you have the wrong motor linked to the wrong sensor…

My app keeps disconnecting, unsure why. I keep having to re connect. Yes mountain board but I just set max battery amps at 120 as Its well within my battery capability, I’ve tried turning it down and hasn’t made any difference. Also my motor max is actually 100amps but I’ve turned them down too. Controller settings are set OK so I think I was probably holding throttle when I took that screen shot. Solder could well be an issue. I’m the worst solderer! But I did test my wires on a multi meter which showed they were OK but maybe the solder could still be an issue? I noticed my battery amp draw on the app was only maxing around 20 amp even on full throttle and motors were reading up to 100amps (when set to 100) but only around 4 volts, is this normal? I doubt it . Ive just read upto about message 700 in this thread and a lot of messages about stuttering motors but none about the motors changing direction. Thanks for your reply Balth81

I think I’m running the newest firmware, I have this error come up every time I update After the board has definately been connected through the firmware update. I can’t see which firmware I’m running though on the app. ui|241x500ui

So when my battery is fully charged and I need to brake the Unity cuts the brakes with like an over current protection message. Is there any way to work around that or do I just have to deal with not having brakes for the first few km of my rides?

Check out rheostatic brakes from @hyperIon1. You wire them in parallel to the battery so over voltage regen gets burned off as heat

Refuse to shop with them now, too much f*cking around after buying incompatible motors from them and them ditching the conversation when trying to reach a resolution. Plus their site vanished anyway.

might not be the unity cutting brakes… ive found that with a bestech bms or a discharge bypass that brakes dont cut… but using a cheap bms tends to result in a brake cut out on a full charge…

Interesting, mine’s a generic 10s 60a supposed to be charge only but my new battery builder is saying it’s discharge too
