@LoneWolf607 Prices of individual elements in this topic

How did you reach 16A - 8S with the Zippy Flighmax? 4 x 8000mAh-4S 30C?

If you want to 8S 16Ah, use 4 pcs 8Ah 4S. What is your ESC?

I am waiting for a VESC, probably 10S. So you have two in series and two in parallel?

Yes. I use 8S because I have a charger SkyRC Ultimate Duo 1400W, which charges the batteries LiPo 2x8S

No. This is just a picture on the ski slope I could not cross a distance 10 cm  Snow was very soft, air temperature was 14 C

Hi Tom, where did you buy the ESC? Are you happy with them? Did you make the metallic enclosures or were they supplied by the vendor?

I did not remember the speed and range you gave at the beginning of the thread. That is very impressive with 8S. That could make me reconsider my build, where I intended to go with 10S. But if you buy Lipos you do not find many 5S to put in series, it’s very often 4 or 6S. Do you confirm the speed and range you gave earlier (by experience)? Thanks

I bought the FVT 120A 12S on ebay.

I do not have aluminum casing. The firmware for skateboard is flashing me manufacturer, I sent esc to China.

Later I bought ESC FVT 120A 12S “Sleep Lion” in aluminum housing. Unfortunately, the new ESC is bad for mountainboard,

I made a movies comparing the older ESC type (which one I use) and the new ESC FVT Sleep Lion.

I reported the problem to the producer but this time he ignored me, so in a few days I will post on the forum videos showing the problem.

Spare battery pack

The exchange takes about 1-2 minute After using Cotter Pins the exchange time will be even shorter  The new package is 4x10Ah 4S (20Ah 8s)

Range - 25km (~16 mile)

@Idea Do you have any news on the “Sleeping Lion” ESC? I was about to buy some when I saw your post.

What was the problem and were you able to solve it?

Thanks!

@Onester “Sleep Lion” has a delay, so it is not suitable for Mountainboard. Mountainboard needs full power without delay, especially in difficult terrain. The problem is also “take off”, “Sleep Lion” has a small torque at startup.

I posted 4 videos showing the problem

  1. Acceleration - “Sleep Lion 120A 12S” https://youtu.be/adR-AoVFE0I

  2. Acceleration - “FVT 120A 12S for plane, Firmware ported from the car version” https://youtu.be/d2ww5g_CDyk

  3. Start - “Sleep Lion 120A 12S” - Low torque https://youtu.be/om4OSAx_sWo

  4. Start - “FVT 120A 12S for plane, Firmware ported from the car version” - Good torque https://youtu.be/yE_1viOjnY8

Wow yeah that definitely is a huge difference.

I really wanted to try 12S for my first build, but probably now will go with Hobbywing Max6 in 8S just to certain I get something that I know will work.

Did you try adjusting the “Initial acceleration” and the “Start Power” settings in the ESC config utility? See this post.

Yes, it does not give much. “Initial acceleration” was at its maximum, The increase of values " start Power” causes the jerks of the motors

After an hour of conversation on skype I persuaded the engineer at FVT to modify the firmware.

Now ESC has a “kick” Acceleration is no longer delayed. I am sharing the new firmware.

I will not respond for damage. Upgrade firmware to your own risk.
